The 82,000 tiles produced for the façade of the wing are handmade by Koninklijke Tichelaar. This highlights the unicity of each individual tile. The glazes are specially developed for this project by our own laboratory. Each glaze shows by means of its color a certain form of liveliness in the tile itself as well as between the different tiles. The color gradient symbolizes the location of the museum: a moraine that once was formed by a glacier.
