Koninklijke Tichelaar extended its regular tile collection with a series of new glazes. Tichelaar uniquely positioned itself in the international market for developing special glazes. Our glazes distinguish itself within the market by its rich color nuance and unique effects in the texture of the glazing. These results are realized by using natural pigments and mineral mixtures within the manual production process. There is a growing interest of architects and designers in our products, where the beauty and durable characteristics as color fastness and the simplicity in maintenance play important roles.
For this series we were inspired by our archive, and we subsequently developed colors that varied between iridescent white, transparent green, deep taupe and a dark gold effect. The size of the handmade tiles is 13 x 13 cm, which is the same size as the well-known ‘witjes’ that we produce since the 17th century.
